During human evolution, our adaptation to red meat and the vital protein and fats it provides, is one of the KEY reasons behind the rapid growth in our intelligence and brain capacity.
- Many different ways to cook it; roast beef, taco salad, ground beef, burgers, meat balls and the list goes on and on
- Support local beef producers in your area!
So there you have it! Beef is good, and good for you. If you love beef as much as I do, then please feel free to take a look at the Facebook page I put together called the Benefits of Beef. Here is the link:
Over the past few years, there have been many negative myths directed towards beef. These myths state that beef is bad for the human body, however, this myth is in fact FALSE! Beef is great for the human body and provides people with many nutritive vitamins! Eat beef, you'll be glad you did!
The Benefits of Organic Farming
Organic farming is a type of agriculture which produces organic foods. Consumer demand for organic food has increased over the past few years, therefore producers must produce a higher yield. Organic farming limits and excludes the use use of manufactured fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides, plant growth regulators (hormones), livestock antibiotics, genetically modified organisms, and food additives. Organic producers believe that organic agriculture sustains the health of soil, ecosystems, and people. The benefit that is most evident within organic farming is that it has potential to secure the future for sustainable farming. Just like conventional farming, the organic industry has it's small downfall's. The use of manure as a fertilizer can potentially lead to risk of contamination of the produce. However, it is still argued by the Organic Industry that the toxins raised from pesticides and fertilizers in conventional farming are just as toxic. Organic agriculture considers the medium- and long-term effect of agricultural interventions on the ecosystem. It aims to produce food while establishing an ecological balance to prevent soil fertility or pest problems. Organic agriculture takes a proactive approach as opposed to treating problems after they emerge.
The Benefits of Pork
-Pork chops used to be on the doctors’ hit list. Today, however, pork is “the other white meat” and is a healthy alternative to red meat. And when it’s eaten in reasonable quantities (8 oz), a pork chop can be quite good for you.
-Pork chops can be relatively lean, but they’re typically not as low-fat as chicken or fish. By contrast a USDA, University of Wisconsin and Maryland study, found that an 85g serving of pork tenderloin contains 2.98g of fat and that the same portion of skinless chicken breast contains 3.03g of fat.
-Pork is naturally low in salt and is a good source of quality protein
-Pork is a good source of the easily absorbed form of dietary iron
-A 100g portion of pork provides you with 15% of your daily requirement of iron
-Rich source of Vitamin B12

The Benefits of Youth 'Agvocators'
The term, Youth Agvocators, is a term that means, youth educating others in agriculture, well that's what it means to me at least. I believe that youth who are involved in agriculture should take on the task of informing society about the benefits of the industry. The agriculture industry is an industry that has so many doors attached to it, people often just need to take the time to open one to get a chance to experience what the industry has to offer. The agriculture industry has been a part of my life ever since I was born. From checking cattle with my dad at 3 a.m. or feeding my 4-H calves when it's 30 below. The agriculture industry is not only an interest of many, but it is a job, career, and food source. The idea of Youth Agvocators started in the hands of youth, and has been passed down to better educate society of the importance that agriculture plays in our world. I hope that by providing 'The Benefits' section, that it has showed you just how important certain aspects of the agriculture industry can be for your health, income, and your community. I have personally taken on the task of becoming a 'Youth Agvocator' I challenge all of you too as well!

Lamb Steak |
- Lamb is a good protein food for people of all ages, with all 8 essential amino acids in the proper ratio. Four ounces of lamb meat provides 60.3% of an adult male's recommended daily allowance (RDA) for protein.
- Lamb contains less saturated fat than other red meat product; a study shows that only about 36% of the fat in lamb is saturated. The rest is monounsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat or the "good fat."
- Lamb is a rich source of B-complex vitamins, as well as iron, phosphorus, calcium, and potassium. Vitamin B12 support the formation of red blood cells and prevent anemia, it is also necessary for healthy nervous system and the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Niacin is necessary for healthy skin, and gastro-intestinal tract.
- Lamb is a good source of zinc which is important for a healthy immune function and for wound healing, and normal cell division. Zinc also helps stabilize blood sugar levels and the body's metabolic rate, and is necessary for an optimal sense of smell and taste. Zinc is an especially important nutrient for men because it helps maintain the prostate health.
Grassfed lamb vs Factory raised lamb: grassfed lamb is superior in quality and taste. Lamb raised on grass produces meat that is lean, tender, fine-grained, and has a delicate flavor. But it’s not just superior to store-bought lamb in taste; grassfed lamb is more wholesome and better for your health.
Grassfed lamb contains two to six times more omega-3 fatty acids, which can reduce the risk of heart disease and other ailments. It also builds muscle and burns fat. Pasture-raised products contain three to five times more conjugated linoleic acid(CLA) than those of animals fed conventional diets. Studies have shown that conjugated linoleic acid reduces the risk of cancer in humans.
The Benefits of Poultry
- Chicken is a very good source of lean, high quality protein. Protein is an essential nutrient for growth and development and also plays an important role in assisting overweight and obese people in losing weight fast.
- In older people, the proteins present in chicken also help against bone loss. Even 100 gm of chicken breast accounts for more than half of the recommended dietary intake of protein.
- Chicken is a rich source of niacin, a B-vitamin that protects the body against cancer. A deficiency of niacin can be directly associated with genetic (DNA) damage. Around 72% of the daily niacin requirement of the body can be fulfilled by a four-ounce serving of chicken.
- The trace mineral selenium is found in good quantities in chicken. It is an essential component required by many major metabolic pathways, which includes thyroid hormone metabolism, anti-oxidant defense systems, and immune function of the body.
- Vitamin B6, present in chicken, plays a crucial role as a methyl donor in the basic cellular process of transferring methyl groups from one molecule to another, leading to the formation of a wide range of important active molecules. This process is known as Methylation. The availability of methyl groups is lessened due to the inadequacy of B6, which can result in damage to the blood vessels.
- Vitamin B6, along with niacin, makes chicken a favorable food in supporting the energy metabolism of the body. Both these B-complex vitamins help the enzymes throughout the body to guide the metabolic reactions.
- Chicken meat is a good source of phosphorus, which is a very essential mineral for the body. Phosphorus maintains the health of teeth and bones, and also ensures healthy functioning of the kidneys, liver and the central nervous system.
